In honor of everyone who’s broiling under the summer sun, a gallery of sheer dresses from different eras. Just for fun, see if you match each dress with its era without looking. Enjoy and keep cool!
Note: for those of you who are wondering what “gypsophila” is, here you go:
“Gypsophila is a genus of flowering plants in the carnation family, Caryophyllaceae. They are native to Eurasia, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.” (wikipedia.en).
One of the most popular species is known as “Baby’s Breath.” I have no idea how the plant fiber is treated to allow its use in embroidery. If someone knows I’m sure there are a lot of us curious types who’d like to know, too.
