I’ve known about the Jane Austen Festival in Bath, England, for some time and it’s been on my “one of these days” list for some time. I think it’s high time I went.
I’ve been to Bath, but only for one day on a bus trip from London. I never got to see the Assembly Rooms. I missed the famous costume museum. I didn’t make it to The American Museum in Bath, which houses some of the best early New England quilts ever made. I really want to rectify those misses and have a whopping good time as well. And so I shall.
At the start of this project I have a few pieces of completed Late Georgian dress. The current inventory is as follows: a pair of boots, stockings (no garters), two chemises, a set of stays, a petticoat and a pair of pantalettes (because I’m not comfortable going completely starkers underneath). Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on one’s point of view) one isn’t allowed to wander about this event in one’s period undergarments alone.
So I need…a few more things. I’ll be posting wardrobe pieces as they are finished. Good thing I’m not planning on attending this fall.
